The Sidekick staff consists of student journalists who have taken journalism as a prerequisite. Staff members go through an application process and are selected by the adviser. Positions include editors, staff writers, photographers, graphic artists and ad sales.

The newspaper, which includes stories, photos and layout and design created by the student journalists, is published seven times each school year. The paper is distributed on the high school campus and subscriptions are available to have the paper mailed to parents in the community.

Funding for the newspaper comes from advertising sold by the students, fundraisers and $15 subscriptions.
