Coppell ISD Gifted and Talented (GT)

  • The Coppell ISD Gifted and Talented (GT) services are designed to provide an academically challenging education for learners who perform or show the potential to perform at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to other learners of the same age, experience, or environment and who:

    • Exhibit high performance in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
    • Possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
    • Excel in a specific academic field (mathematics or language arts)

    GT Continuum of Services and Service Goals

    CISD GT services are primarily designed to support and develop learners’ creative, academic, and intellectual gifts.  A variety of leadership opportunities are available through passion projects, service learning opportunities, orbital studies of the grade level curriculum, and in some cases, acceleration.

    As learners matriculate, there are opportunities to develop their athletic and artistic abilities through sports teams, choirs, bands, and advanced visual and performing arts courses.

    Learners who receive CISD GT services will develop and demonstrate advanced skills through the development of professional-level products and performances in the following areas:

    • Self-Directed Learning
    • Critical Thinking
    • Creative and Innovative Thinking
    • Research in one or more disciplines
    • Communication

    GT Service Design

    Learners identified as needing GT services in Coppell ISD are provided a research-based learning continuum consistently implemented throughout the district to meet their needs and reinforce their strengths and interests.  Specific information regarding the services offered at elementary, middle school, and high school levels can be found on the side bar.
