The Coppell ISD Gifted and Talented (GT) services are designed to provide an academically challenging education for learners who perform or show the potential to perform at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to other learners of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
- Exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
- Possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
- Excel in a specific academic field (mathematics or language arts)
GT Service Goals
Learners who receive CISD GT services will develop and demonstrate advanced skills through the development of professional-level products and performances in the following areas:
- Self-Directed Learning
- Critical Thinking
- Creative and Innovative Thinking
- Research in one or more disciplines
GT Service Design
GT learners in Coppell ISD are provided a research-based learning continuum consistently implemented throughout the district to meet the needs and reinforce the strengths and interests of gifted and talented learners. Specific information regarding the services offered at elementary, middle school and high school levels can be found on the side bar.
GT Qualification and Assessment
All Kindergarten learners are automatically considered for GT services in accordance with the state plan. Our identification process is on-going and assessment of learners in grades 1-11 occurs anytime the need arises. Learners may only referred for GT consideration once per academic year.
