Mrs. Janelle Bence

English I in Critical Literacies

Janelle Bence, 9th Grade English facilitator, is in her 21st year of teaching and seventh year at NTH@C. She has vast experience with English Language Learners in both urban and suburban school districts. Mrs. Bence is an active teacher-leader for the National Writing Project (NWP) where she served on the Board of Directors for 3 years. She has presented at many national and international conferences such as Deeper Learning, NWP Annual Meeting, National Council for Teachers of English, AP, New Tech Annual Conference, and AERA. In 2018, she was selected to receive the Outstanding Teaching of Humanities by Humanities Texas. Her passions are teaching writing, yoga, sourdough baked goods, amplifying learner voice, and civic engagement.
