CISD is committed to intentionally designing experiences that afford learners the opportunity to engage in authentic learning tasks that allow for the development of global competence displayed through behaviors and habits of mind that promote collaboration, communication, and collectively solving global issues. This multi-year journey is a result of passionate educators who understood utilizing technology was not only connecting but caring about others and taking action. Educators and learners will utilize the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and the Learning Framework to actualize global competencies as they:
their immediate environment
own and others'
translate their ideas and findings into appropriate actions to improve conditions
Service-learning is a structured learning experience that combines community service with preparation and reflection. Educators and learners will utilize service learning as it relates to the learner passion. DIRECT
person-to-person, face-to-face service projects in which the students' service directly impacts individuals
working on broad issues, environmental projects, community development-projects that have clear benefits to the community or environment
gathering and presenting information on areas of interest and need-projects that find, gather, and report on information that is needed for a greater good
educating others about topics of public interest-projects that aim to create awareness and action on some issue that is in the public interest
