    Dear CISD Families,

Last Friday, February 14, was a unique day for our employees, as we participated in a Professional Learning event focused on social and emotional health and wellness.  It is important we practice what we teach in Coppell ISD, and that our staff take care of their social and emotional health so we can better serve these needs with our students.  What was particularly meaningful is the majority of the sessions were facilitated by CISD staff, which led to significant peer to peer learning.

We know that social and emotional learning is equally important to our parents, which is why we are sharing similar information at the upcoming Parent University Social and Emotional Learning Conference March 28 at CMS West.  The registration deadline for the conference is today at 5 p.m., so we can give our participants the best experience possible.  We also will be providing breakfast and lunch at no cost during this event, so please register today at go.coppellisd.com/ParentUsel so we can plan accordingly.  A book fair sponsored by Barnes & Noble will also be available for parents to purchase supplemental resources to support the learning.

Today is also the last day to nominate a CISD graduate for our Distinguished Alumni honor.  If you haven’t yet, please visit  go.coppellisd.com/alumni and nominate one of our many successful alumni for this prestigious award.

Finally, February marks Black History Month, and at CISD we are proud to recognize the important contributions of African Americans to our community, society and history.  I hope you have noticed the displays, projects, artwork and more at our campuses commemorating this important month.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Brad Hunt
