Dear CISD Families, I want to thank our community and staff for your continued patience, understanding and flexibility, as we work together to plan for the return to school on Wednesday, August 12. Yesterday, after weeks of planning, we released our Draft Return to School Guide. We were waiting for additional guidance from the state before we shared our information with our community. The CISD Guide was shared after we received guidelines from the Texas Education Agency late in the afternoon of July 7. As you read this guide and review our FAQ document at www.coppellisd.com/returntoschool, I want you to know it is in a DRAFT format, as we are still hard at work preparing for a back to school that is safe and meaningful, while providing an excellent academic experience for all students. We are also very mindful of the additional burden placed on our staff, especially our teachers, as we continue to plan for the upcoming school year.
Clearly, this situation is not easy for anyone. We recognize the stress it has caused to our students and families, as well as our staff. These are uneasy times, as many variables are in play as we plan for our return to school. Though this situation continues to change, our commitment remains to communicate with our community frequently, to offer opportunities for feedback, and to work together to do what is best for our children. Please know everyone will not get exactly what they want, even though we have a goal of working to create a situation that has some level of flexibility and support. We must all continue to have grace for one another and remain #CISDTogether throughout this process. It is hard now, and it will be hard in the future, but it will get better as we work to tackle this situation as a team. I encourage you to continue to email your feedback to input@coppellisd.com. Please know every email will be reviewed and the contents shared with our team. However, the volume of emails may cause a delay in response, but I assure you that we value your insight and appreciate you engaging with us through the proper channels. I also hope you and your children will complete our survey by July 12 at midnight.
As the summer comes to an end, please continue to enjoy time with your family.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Hunt

The second Parent/Guardian Survey is available at go.coppellisd.com/parentsurvey2 and a Student Survey for those entering Grades 3-12 is available at go.coppellisd.com/studentreturnschoolsurvey. The deadline for both surveys is July 12 at midnight.
Facebook Live July 16 CISD will host a Facebook Live event on Thursday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. for our community to ask questions on Return to School.
Commitment Forms Update A commitment form will be shared with CISD families the morning of July 13. Each family will fill out a commitment form for each child attending a CISD school for the 2020-2021 school year. We ask that you commit to either face-to-face instruction or distance learning for the first nine weeks. CISD asks that families submit commitments by July 20 by 11:59 p.m., if possible, to assist the district in planning for the school year. (Parents and guardians will have until July 29 to change their minds, which complies with the TEA guideline that families have until two weeks before school starts to commit.)
