Dear CISD Families,
Veterans Day was this week, and I join our educators, students, families and community in thanking and saluting those who have served our country in the armed forces. Though our campus recognition ceremonies were virtual this year, it is important that we recognize and thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice for our country.
Here in CISD, we have many veterans who serve as teachers and staff members in our district. We also have parents and guardians who are currently serving. Many of our students go onto serve after graduation. One of these graduates is Jacob Schick, who graduated in 2001 and is among our CISD Distinguished Alumni. Jacob is the Executive Director of the non-profit 22Kill Organization, which is dedicated to suicide prevention and mental wellness among veterans. Jacob served as our Convocation Speaker in 2019 and his message about grit, resiliency and not being afraid to ask for support and help is important now, more than ever.
On behalf of CISD, I thank all of our veterans for your service to our country and community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Hunt
