In Coppell ISD we offer full day tuition-free Pre-Kindergarten for all qualifying learners. Our Early Childhood program provides our youngest learners a challenging and achievable curriculum that engages thinking, reasoning, and communicating with others. We support learners in making connections across subjects through play and exploration. Partnering with parents and the community we provide meaningful experiences that build confidence and ensure future success for our young learners.
Pre-K offers a nurturing and challenging environment to help children develop the skills they need to succeed throughout their school career. The Pre-K year is a period of rapid growth for children. The key concepts they develop in the Pre-K classroom build the foundation for their future academic success.
In Coppell ISD our Pre-K classrooms follow the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and use a research-based systematic curriculum. Pre-K lessons include opportunities for purposeful play, social and emotional learning. A day in PreK is packed full of collaborative hands on experiences in reading, math, science and social studies and outdoor learning.
In Coppell ISD we follow the Texas Pre-kindergarten Guidelines and utilize Savvas, Three Cheers for Pre-K.
The Three Cheers for Pre-K curriculum helps Pre-K students achieve positive outcomes through learning experiences that are engaging and relevant to their lives. It features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, and supports the district objective to teach the whole child with a focus on social and emotional learning.
Pre-K students receive instruction in ten domains including early literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, health, visual arts, music and physical education. Emphasis is also placed on problem-solving, interest and joy in learning, self-expression and divergent thinking, personal responsibility, self-control and feelings of security and success.
The Texas Pre-kindergarten Guidelines are based on current theory and scientific research about child development and learning. The Texas Pre-kindergarten Guidelines offer parents and educators descriptions of behaviors for four and five year olds from the beginning to the end of the Pre-K year. The Pre-K Guidelines provide descriptions of behaviors and support regarding language acquisition, students with special needs, communication, social emotional learning, early literacy in reading and writing, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, physical development and technology.
The opportunities and experiences parents and teachers provide during the Pre-Kindergarten year can build a strong foundation for success in future classrooms.

How to Sign Up
After your online application is received and reviewed, you will be emailed a link to sign up for language testing or necessary next steps.
What to Expect
If you indicated on your application that a language other than English is spoken in the home, or by your child, schools are required to assess the English proficiency of students to determine if they qualify for language services in order to increase the English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Children who are not yet proficient in English qualify for participation in the Coppell ISD Early Childhood Pre-Kindergarten Program.
If your child qualifies as an English Learner, you will be given information on how to register your child for the Early Childhood Pre-Kindergarten Program.
If your child does not qualify, the learner may not test a second time. If there are additional questions, we will be pleased to assist you.
In Coppell ISD our Early Childhood Pre-Kindergarten program is housed at four campuses throughout the district; Austin, Lakeside, Denton Creek and Wilson.
All eligible Bi-Lingual Pre-K learners will attend Wilson Elementary.
All PPCD eligible learners will be individually notified regarding your child's campus assignment.
A Parent Orientation will be held at each Pre-K campus at the start of the year (date and time TBD). Please attend parent orientation at the campus your child will be attending Pre-K.

Eligible Pre-K learners who live within the Wilson, Cottonwood Creek, and Pinkerton attendance zones.
Bilingual Pre-K (Spanish/English) who live within Coppell ISD attendance zones.
Bus transportation is provided if the student is more than two miles from the Early Childhood Pre-K Program campus.
After your child has registered (at your Pre-K campus) you will receive a student ID Number. The ID Number may only be provided by your campus secretary or office staff. Using this student ID Number you will go to the CISD Service Center with your child to have photo made for a bus pass.
If you have already received a bus pass and it now needs to be changed, the Transportation Department will change that for you without a second trip to the Service Center.

Students in CISD Early Childhood Pre-K will have breakfast and lunch during the school day.

Early Childhood Report Card Indicator Rubric
In an effort to provide parents a report card which gives specific information concerning what a child should know, understand and be able to do, the elementary report card is linked to state standards (PK Guidelines). As we collectively and strategically plan to integrate 21st-century learning standards, it is imperative that effective methods be used to measure and report what students are learning. The standards-based report card is a tool to help accomplish these goals.
