Coppell ISD offered a Temporary Virtual Learning Option for the first nine weeks of the 2021-22 school year for students in grades Pre K-6. This temporary learning environment allowed students to engage in at-home learning virtually utilizing Coppell ISD instructional resources in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade, ages where COVID-19 vaccinations are not yet available. Students whose parents chose the virtual option began the school year on Monday, August 23.
Students enrolled in temporary virtual learning must reside within the boundaries of Coppell ISD or have been accepted into the Open Enrollment Program and participate in their course work from that residence. Learners may not participate in temporary virtual learning while residing in another city, state or country. The enrollment period for the temporary virtual learning option has closed.

How It Works
Students will engage with CISD virtual teachers both asynchronously and synchronously. Virtual synchronous learning is defined as two-way, realtime, live, instruction between teachers and students, through the computer or other electronic devices. Asynchronous Learning is a learning environment and structure where students engage in the learning materials through some structured, teacher-directed activities balanced with independent learning and practice. The majority of the learning experiences will be self-paced and a CISD virtual teacher will provide learning support. The students may have a teacher that is not from their home campus. CISD will use Schoology as the learning platform. Students will have access to pre-recorded and direct instruction from a CISD teacher, as well as posted assignments and activities using a CISD issued iPad. Additional support and resources will be provided to facilitate any intervention and enrichment as appropriate.
The Virtual Option will be available for students in grades Pre K-6 at least through the first nine weeks of school and will be reevaluated and may be extended as necessary. The enrollment period for the temporary virtual learning option is closed.
