CISD Board Approves Ending Temporary Mask Requirement
- Trustees approved ending the temporary mask requirement for its students, staff and visitors (5-1-1) with Trustee Tracy Fisher voting against the motion and Trustee Neena Biswas abstaining. The Board cited the Texas Education Agency’s Sept. 17, 2021, Public Health Guidance, which states, “school systems cannot require students or staff to wear a mask,” as part of the motion to end the temporary mask requirement.
Public Hearings on District of Innovation and State Financial Accountability Rating (FIRST)
Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Deana Dynis shared information about the district’s District of Innovation plans during a public hearing prior to the Board meeting. Chief Financial Officer Diana Sircar shared information about the district’s state financial accountability rating (FIRST) during a public hearing on the subject held during the meeting.
Board Action and Consent Items Highlights:- Trustees approved the adoption of the CISD District of Innovation Plan.
- The Board approved the adoption of the 2021-2022 Campus Improvement Plans, which are available on each school’s website or on the CISD District Improvement Plan webpage.
- Trustees approved the awarding for a Construction Manager at Risk contract to the best valued proposal for the procurement of construction related services.
- The Board approved baseball and softball complex improvements.
- Trustees approved to adopt a Resolution recommitting Operating Fund Balance.
- The Board approved the Financial Report for September 2021 and the October 2021 Budget Amendments.
- Trustees voted to postpone the vote on the Board Operating Procedures to the November 29, 2021, Board Meeting.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angie Brooks and Coordinator of Counseling and Social and Emotional Learning Ann Lehew shared a Social Emotional Learning Update.
2016 Bond Project Update and Accessibility
Chief Operations Officer Dr. Dennis Womack and Director of Intervention Services Debbie Gaunt shared an update on Accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Dr. Womack also shared an update on the 2016 Bond and remaining items to be completed.
