Requirements To Be A Substitute Teachers In Coppell ISD

  • Coppell ISD strives to employ the most qualified applicants; therefore, applicants with a valid teaching certificate will be considered first for substitute teaching positions. In addition to substitute teachers, Coppell ISD utilizes substitutes for paraprofessional staff (clerical and classroom aides) as well as nurses which requires an RN licensure.

    • Must be 21 years of age
    • Must have high school diploma or U.S. certified equivalent
    • Must speak and understand conversational and proper English
    • Must complete CISD on-line virtual orientation at the cost of $54.00
    • Must be fingerprinted
    • Must work at least eight (8) days per semester

Steps To Become A Substitute:

  • Communication from the HR Department will be sent via email so please keep your email address updated on your application. Please allow 7-10 business days for us to contact you after you submit your application.

    • Must complete the Substitute Application which includes a criminal background check and fingerprints. (Incomplete applications will not be considered.)
      • List three references (references may NOT be a family member and you MUST provide email addresses)
      • Upload applicable transcripts to your application to determine rate of pay
    • Fingerprinting Requirements: SB 9 requires submission of a digital fingerprints for a criminal history review. Once your application is reviewed, you will be e-mailed fingerprinting instructions. The cost for fingerprints is approximately $50.00. *If you have already been fingerprinted for the Texas Education Agency and we can verify your results, we will e-mail you regarding a virtual orientation. 
    • Virtual Orientation: HR will e-mail you a unique login to complete the mandatory virtual training/orientation after we review your fingerprints and background check. The cost of this training is $54.00. Note:Virtual orientations are by invitation only.

    Daily Rates

    Substitutes for Professional and Paraprofessional Positions (New pay rates will be announced on July 1st)

    • $125 – Texas Certified teacher
    • $115 –  Bachelor’s degree or higher
    • $100 –  High school diploma or equivalent
    • $125 – Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
