Mrs. Melissa Alexander-Blythe

Melissa Alexander-Blythe graduated in 2000 with her Bachelor’s in both English and Psychology and completed her Master’s in Secondary English Education 2003. She has been teaching English Language and Composition for the past 16 years. Her teaching experience is in both high school and college. Early in Melissa’s career she became a fellow of the National Writing Project—an organization that focuses on teaching teachers to teach writing. Her extensive involvement in NWP is what ignited her passion for teaching writing. Last year, Melissa’s students in AP Lang averaged a 4.032 (the 90th percentile for the 150,000 + students who took the exam). Additionally, Melissa has presented at both local and national level conferences imparting her knowledge on teaching writing and project based learning. She has been an SAT grader for College Board and has also tutored students for the past 10 years. She is currently focused on developing a strong GT curriculum for her 11th grade GT AP Lang. learners.
