Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Arts in English Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction ESL Generalist EC-6
Hello! Welcome to my web page at Canyon Ranch Elementary.
I am so excited to be facilitating the Creative Expression Studio this year! This is my 7th year of teaching, and I have had an amazing journey through education.
While pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree at Harding University, I studied abroad in Zambia, Africa and began thinking I wanted to teach after working in the local orphanages and schools.
Upon graduating, I moved overseas and taught English in Seoul, South Korea for two years at a private English academy. As I returned back to the states, I pursued a Master of Science degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on curriculum design. After completing my course work, gaining experience in the classroom, and taking all my certification tests, I found a job in Austin, TX teaching at Paragon Primary within the Schools of Paragon. While at Paragon, I taught in the K-1-2 program for 1 year and then 2nd grade for two years.
Last school year, I relocated to Dripping Springs, TX to intentionally work on a team of 4th grade teachers to broaden my teaching experience, and I’ve truly enjoyed it and have grown tremendously. This fall, however, I wanted to move back home to the DFW area to be near my family and to invest in myself not only professionally but also personally. Along with my love of teaching students, I have found a new passion in hand lettering, design, business/marketing, and crafting.
As I look back on the experiences I’ve had in education, I see that my strengths have always been in communication and designing instruction through PowerPoint into lessons and assessments for my students. I thrive in an environment where I can create, cultivate relationships, and make a significant impact. I hope to help students foster a love for learning and collaborating while concurrently supporting and refining their gifts in creativity, design, and their personal interests.
