  • Message about Schoology

    April 2, 2020

Coppell ISD is aware that our students’ and parents' cannot access Schoology consistently during our school closure, as we provide CISD Distance Learning to our students.  We understand your frustration, and Schoology assures us they are working quickly to resolve this issue. Please know we have intentionally built a schedule with flexibility in assignments and grace in anticipation for problems like these, including Fridays as review and reteach days.  If Schoology is not working properly, please try to achieve something else, retry via Safari at https://schoology.coppellisd.com/ or try again another time.

We also want to pass along a message from Schoology:

    • You may have recently noticed periodic disruptions to your Schoology site that has potentially impacted your school community during this critical time. We completely understand the heightened importance of having reliable platforms due to wide-scale school closures in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • To confirm what you probably already suspect, Schoology has seen a rapid increase in users on Schoology at the same time (at times, triple the number of users seen previously).  This unprecedented number of users easily surpasses utilization peaks seen in our 10-year history.  As you can imagine, this can put a strain on certain areas within Schoology, which can cause interruptions to specific spaces within the site.
    • Schoology has already identified the factors that led to this negative impact on some users’ experience and has taken measures to rectify. Schoology is continuously monitoring these factors in order to minimize and eliminate these issues from recurring.
    • Schoology is committed to ensuring that we not only resolve these issues, but to also proactively take measures to ensure the future stability of our platform. To that end we have pulled all necessary resources and are updating our internal processes to match the new situation caused by COVID-19.  Our top priority across the company —  from Executive Management to Product Engineering —  is stability, responsiveness and continuous availability of Schoology.
    • As we are navigating these interruptions, we have found accessing the Schoology status update page very helpful.  Please go to: http://status.schoology.com.  There is also a subscribe option that will send you email updates as status changes.

Everyday Good Health Habits

    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Stay home when you are sick. Keeping a sick child at home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child an opportunity to rest and recover.  Please read our CISD’s health attendance guidelines
    • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
    • Do not eat or drink after others.

  • The Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Governor Abbott waived the STAAR test.  While we do not have all the details of this cancellation at this time, we will share additional information as it becomes available. Read more information here: http://ow.ly/i4vm50yMUdk
