• CISD Announces Administrative Changes

After 28 years of service to the Coppell Independent School District, Assistant Superintendent for Administration, Judy Denman, recently announced her plan to retire effective in June of 2009. The district will not fill the position at this time due to financial constraints and Tracey Wallace, Director of Human Resources will be promoted to Executive Director of Human Resources and assume some of Mrs. Denman's responsibilities. The remainder of her roles will be spread among other central office staff members.

In addition, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Sherrye Dotson has also announced her retirement. Mrs. Dotson will serve as the Associate Superintendent for School Improvement for the remainder of the year and work on assigned projects including the district's Strategic Planning initiative, from the superintendent's office.

Melody Paschall, Executive Director of Special Education & Intervention Services has been promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and will take over the role of leading the department effective immediately. Her position in the Special Education department will not be filled, and decisions regarding the leadership for that department will be made in the coming months.

These changes, when added to three other positions already marked for elimination in the Business and Support Services Department, will reduce CISD payroll by over $400,000 as the 2009-2010 budget begins to take shape. The district's budgeted deficit is $4.5M.
