• CISD Foundation Recognizes Students & Teachers

Directors for the Coppell ISD Education Foundation say it’s not too late to buy a table!

For the seventh year consecutive year, the CISD Education Foundation will host the Student/ Teacher Academic Recognition Banquet. During the event, thirty-five students, comprising the “Top 5%” of this year’s graduating senior class from Coppell High School, along with thirty-five CISD teachers, who they believe have most positively impacted them in both the classroom and in their life, will be honored. In addition, the Foundation will also recognize the fourteen campus “Teachers of the Year” as a part of the National “Teacher of the Year” award program. One elementary and one secondary teacher will go on to represent Coppell ISD at the regional level of the program and Dr. Jeff Turner, Superintendent will announce the names of those two teachers that evening.
Student and teacher recognition within Coppell ISD has been identified as a funding priority for the Foundation along with the funding of innovative teaching grants & matching funds projects for the campuses. To-date, the Foundation Board of Directors has awarded nearly $584,000 to teachers and students on all campuses and in all grade levels since its inception over seven years ago.
Additionally, building an endowment for the long-term continuation of funding also remains a priority for the Foundation. Visit the Education Foundation website at www.coppellisdef.com for more information about the Foundation’s mission, annual events/activities, and a current list of grants awarded to each campus.
According to Foundation President-Elect and banquet committee chairperson Shawnee Ingrum, “This event just gets bigger every year and what a great way for businesses and individuals to publicly recognize and support the excellence that exists among CISD’s top students and staffs all across the district. This type of recognition is a ‘win-win’ for the Foundation and Coppell ISD and could not otherwise be supported with district resources."
A Foundation annual fundraiser, the banquet table sponsorships sold will ensure that this event and other funding priorities of the Foundation continue and that the eighty-four teachers and students being honored, as well as their immediate families, will enjoy an evening of celebration and recognition for the educational accomplishments being acknowledged. The theme for this year’s banquet is “This Is My Time” and the event is set for Tuesday, May 6th from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Marriott Hotel DFW Airport / 8440 Freeport  Parkway / Irving, Texas. Those interested in sponsoring a teacher or student table should contact Mrs. Teressa Taylor in the CISD Education Foundation’s Office of Development on or before May 2nd at 214.496.6054.
