Twenty-one students from Coppell Middle School North recently participated in the regional level of competition for National History Day.One group of students will advance to compete at the state level in May.Blake H., Abisek R. and Kristian C. will represent Coppell, in Austin, with their exhibit entitled “Innovations in Money: Money verses the Barter System.”
This is the 30th year of the competition in Texas and the second year for CMS North to participate. As part of the strategic plan, history teacher Angela Geiger felt that it was important to offer the students an opportunity to engage in a rigorous level of academic competition that focuses on the social sciences. Each year the theme is chosen by National History Day, this year's theme was “Innovations and Innovators”. Entries can be done by a group or an individual and, the competition categories are: traditional essay, documentary, performance, exhibit, or the newly added web site category.
