• “My Child's Going to High School…Now What?”

This month's topic for “The Discussion” is the perfect opportunity to dialogue with parents and the community about what to expect during the high school transition year, resources available to help in that transition, and the many options available (academic and otherwise) to pique student interest and keep them engaged in their learning. There's no better time than the spring registration cycle, going on right now, to find out how CISD teachers are using engagement to create a deeper understanding and longer retention of the curriculum being taught while fostering the critical thinking and “soft” skills necessary for their students to be successful in the 21st century. The session will also provide pointers on ways parents can support student learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. Bring your brown bag lunch and join CISD on Wednesday, Jan. 19th, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in the CHS Lecture Hall. Shuttle service will run from the CHS football stadium's northwest parking lot beginning at 12:15 p.m. and return upon completion of the session.
