CISD Welcomes New Principal, Directors
The Coppell Independent School District proudly announces the addition of three talented individuals to its team of administrators for the upcoming school year.
The district's new Director of Assessment is Dr. Karen Vance. Karen comes to CISD from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD where she has been the Director of Assessment, Research and Evaluation since 2004. Prior to serving in this role, Karen worked at the collegiate level as both a director and instructor. She received her BA from UTA and her Masters and Ph.D. from TCU. She comes with a wealth of knowledge involving state assessments and accountability and will be an excellent resource to our district. Her extensive experience in this area will be extremely valuable if CISD is selected as a part of SB 1557. She has two children ages 14 and 4. Karen is thrilled to be joining our team and is most excited about working in such a progressive, visionary district.
CISD's new Director of Advanced Academics and CTE is Kristen Brown. Kristen began her teaching career in Ft. Worth ISD; however she is no stranger to CISD. In 2005, Kristen was an 8th grade science teacher at CMS East. While serving as the Cowboy Scholar Institute (CSI) team leader at Coppell High School, Kristen taught Biology and Chemistry. In 2008, Kristen played an integral role in developing and opening New Tech High @ Coppell, serving as a science facilitator and Assistant Director. For the past two years, Kristen has been a PBL coach for CISD and has worked at all three levels, elementary, middle and high school. She also is a senior consultant and trainer for "Engage! Learning" working with several districts throughout Texas as a PBL trainer and coach. Kristen has a BA and Master's Degree from TCU and a second Master's in Administration from TWU. She and her husband Benton live in Coppell with their two and half year old son Parker.
The new Principal at Wilson Elementary School is Chris Nester.
