CISD Phone System Down July 8-11
Coppell Independent School District will be transitioning to new phone services and a new phone system beginning Thursday, July 8 at 3:00 p.m. Phone numbers will remain the same; however, those wishing to call the school district during that time should anticipate that all phone services will be unavailable from July 8 at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday, July 11.
On Monday, July 12, the initial areas that will be functional on the new phone system will be:
- Vonita White Administration Building
- Roy C. Brock Center
- Service Center
- Coppell High School administrative offices & summer school classrooms
- New Tech administrative offices
- Wilson Elementary summer school classrooms
Once each of the areas above are up and running, the focus will then be to make sure each of the campus administrative office areas are up and running followed by each of the instructional classrooms. Until the “phase-in” is complete, e-mail use is encouraged.
According to Chad Branum, Executive Director of Technology, “As of 2007, our current phone products are no longer manufactured or supported by Avaya, so replacement was included in the 2009 bond initiative. While there will be some down time in order to make the switch, in the long run, the benefits will far outweigh the immediate inconvenience. A few of the features of the new system includes integration of all phone systems across the district, addition of E911 for more detailed information in the event of an emergency, increased system stability that will reduce the number of dropped calls, new on-hold messaging options, and much more. All-in-all, we will be maximizing our phone system uptime district wide.”
