• Open Enrollment Deadline Extended

Coppell ISD staff recently extended the deadline for elementary students to apply for admission, through the new Open Enrollment process (enrollment is open to residents living in the City of Coppell, but outside the Coppell ISD attendance boundaries), to Monday, August 1. Eighty seven applications were received by the initial cutoff of June 9 with 71 students having satisfied the stated requirements of the school district. Some additional seats are still available, especially for students who will be entering Kindergarten, First, and Fifth Grades.

During his June report to the Board of Trustees, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Support Services, Sid Grant, noted that the process had gone smoothly so far. Cottonwood Creek Elementary and Town Center Elementary remain among the campuses from which additional seats are available, however, due to anticipated class sizes, Denton Creek Elementary did not have enough available seats for consideration as an Open Enrollment campus for the 2011-2012 school year. Grant reported that most students were placed at Cottonwood Creek and added that the district had been successful in matching all siblings to open seats on the same campuses. “This is great for the children as it will keep families together and help mitigate potential transportation issues,” said Grant.
