Facility and Enrollment Committee Presents Plan
At the Coppell ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, March 26, 2012, recommendations were made by the Facility and Enrollment Planning Committee to help manage current and future increases in enrollment.
Proposals for the elementary level include building a new elementary school in Valley Ranch or the new Cypress Waters development (North Lake) as soon as possible but to wait for major redistricting until after the school is built. The plan is for the district to conduct minor redistricting, as needed, in the short-term. The committee also suggested the district continue to monitor the need for a new middle school within the next three to five years as growth continues and existing schools near capacity. After the completion of the new elementary school, the plan for high school facilities considers utilizing a college campus concept that could include a variety of 21st century programs such as academies and a Career Tech Center. The committee also advised renovations to all current campuses to include 21st century concepts.
The Board of Trustees will be discussing these recommendations and a planning process for implementation in the coming months.
