CISD “Has a Ball” at Texas Rangers Game!
Over 1,800 parents, staff, and community members came out to this year's “CISD Day at the Ballpark” at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Students were selected to represent their campus for having demonstrated good character qualities during the year. Over 325 students were honored down on the field where they got to see the Rangers warm up before their game against the Baltimore Orioles. Soloist Leah G., a senior at Coppell High School, sang the National Anthem after the first pitch was fired by Dr. Andra Penny, President of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) and Principal of Cottonwood Creek Elementary. She was accompanied by Cottonwood Creek Elementary PE Teacher, Tammy Gilstrap and, the first pitch was caught by the 3rd Base Coach for the Rangers, Dave Anderson. The Ranger's mascot, Captain, congratulated the 14 campus Teachers of the Year during an on-field presentation and the evening wrapped-up with a close, heart-pounding 4-3 home team victory over the Orioles.
