New Board Member Takes Oath
Kathie Gautille's final act as President of the CISD Board of Trustees was to canvas the election at the May 19th regular meeting. Thom Hulme received 675 votes (50.15%) to Stephen Smith's 671 votes (49.85%). Incumbant Scott Orr was unopposed and received 1060 votes (100%).
Scott Orr was sworn-in and will again serve the district in Place 5 and, after 12 years of dedicated service on the Board, Kathie's seat was vacated and Thom Hulme was sworn-in for Place 4. A former educator and a product of a family of educators, Thom has spent the past 12 years serving the students and staff of Coppell ISD in a volunteer capacity. His work includes service on campus site-based committees, the Chambers Partners in Education mentor and tutor and on the Education Committee raising scholarship money for CHS seniors to name a few. Thom graduated from Trinity University with a bachelor's degree in business and psychology and has worked for the past 17 years as a home loan consultant, currently with Countrywide Bank. Thom and his wife Kelly have lived in Coppell for 14 years and have two older sons, Stephen and Christopher and a 5th grade daughter, Marin, who attends Town Center Elementary.
New officers were also elected during the May meeting: President will be Cindy Warner, Vice-President will again be Bennett Ratliff, and Susie Kemp will assume the duties of Board Secretary. Also elected was the Assistant Secretary Kay Ryon.
