It's Time for the 2nd Annual Engineering Expo!
Coppell High School's School of Engineering and the CHS Engineering Booster Club are gearing up to host the second annual Coppell Engineering Expo on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Coppell High School, 185 W. Parkway Blvd., Coppell. The event will host more than 90 businesses and universities and is free to the public.
CHS student engineers will demonstrate their projects, including a solar car, underwater ROV (remotely operated vehicle), hover craft, robots and more! Local corporations involved with engineering will talk with students and Expo attendees about engineering careers, career paths, training, hiring, and more.
More than 45 universities from around the country will meet with students about curriculum, admissions and placement. Represented universities include the top 11 engineering programs (as ranked by U.S. News and World Report): Cal Berkeley, Caltech, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Georgia Tech, Illinois, MIT, Michigan, Purdue, Stanford, and UT-Austin.
This event is for: (1) high school students who would like to meet representatives from quality universities across the country; (2) middle school students interested in technology and engineering;(3)college students who would like to meet practicing engineers and learn more about career opportunities;(4) teachers and administrators interested in starting a similar program for students in their school district; (5) parents who want to hear about college expectations and workforce needs in this industry; and (6) anyone interested in a fun afternoon of fascinating speakers, good food and intriguing technology exhibits.
