Coppell ISD is partnering with several area school districts and chambers of commerce to host the annual Red Ribbon Breakfast on October 23rd at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn-Lewisville.The breakfast will kick off the national Red Ribbon Campaign, including a week of campus activities and events across the district centered on promoting a drug-free lifestyle. This awareness campaign was first started in 1988 in honor of slain Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena as an effort to educate the youth about the inherent dangers of drugs.
Student leaders from participating high schools and middle schools are invited guests as well as various business sponsors, law enforcement officers, counselors, medical professionals, school administrators, and elected officials. This year’s keynote speaker is James Capra, Special Agent in Charge for the Dallas Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He will talk to students about the importance of staying drug free and encourage them to share the message with their friends and fellow classmates.
