CHS Students Named National Achievement Semifinalists
The 2010 National Achievement Scholarship Program named two Coppell High School students as semifinalists. The National Achievement Program is a part of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Black American high school students are eligible for this program, which is operated and funded separate from the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Semifinalists were selected based on their scores from the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. An estimated 1,600 semifinalists – about one percent of program entries – were announced September 30, 2009 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The CHS semifinalists are Damilola Salako and Gabriel Samuel-Ezeugoh.
Approximately 1,300 students will be selected as finalists to compete for $2.6 million in scholarships supported by corporations, professional organizations, foundations, and National Merit Corporation funds. Achievement Scholarship winners will be announced next spring. For more information about this program, visit http://www.nationalmerit.org/.
