Hot Science at Cottonwood Creek Elementary
Is it hot enough to fry an egg on a sidewalk? Cottonwood Creek Elementary students wanted to know! Students in grades 3-5 completed an inquiry Science lesson in which they tried to find the hottest location outside the school.
Classes were spotted observing and collecting data on playground equipment, on the track, at bike racks, and even on the hood of a car. Student reporters used iTouches to record data. Other students took pictures on the devices while their classmates texted responses into www.todaysmeet.com .
K-2 classes participated by following the live feed and sharing their "I Wonders" through the Today's Meet website. The school-wide "I Wonder" lesson promoted scientific reasoning and engagement, sparking an interest in future "I Wonders".
