Student Artwork to Hang in State Capitol
March marks Youth Art Month across the nation. To celebrate, the Texas Art Education Association sponsors a flag design contest, an exhibit of student art work in the Capitol Building, and a student awards celebration in the State Capitol. Districts across the state submitted art work for the flag design contest and for selection in the exhibit in the Capitol Building.
The flag design contest names winners in three divisions: Elementary, Middle School, and High School, and one of the three is deemed the overall winner. Cali W., 4th grader at Cottonwood Creek Elementary, is the state's Elementary Flag Design Winner.
The exhibit, which will consist of 100 pieces, will be displayed in the South Extension of the Capitol Building March 7-14, 2009. Art work created by four Coppell ISD students was selected for the exhibit: Portrait by CHS junior Bryce H., The Bridge by CHS sophomore Yeelim P., Veggie Fruit Feast by CMS West 8th grader Khadijah M., and Portrait Behind Nature by CMS North 8th grader Sarah P. These students will be honored at an awards celebration and reception at the State Capitol on March 8, 2009. Replicas of this art work are currently displayed in the lobby of the Vonita White Administration Building.Information Coming Soon!
