Newsweek Recognizes CHS
Coppell High School ranked 250 on Newsweek magazine's recently released list of the top 1,500 public high schools across the country. The list is comprised of the top 6% of the some 27,000 U.S. public high schools.
Newsweek researchers compiled the 2009 list using a calculated ratio (or index): the number of AP, IB and/or Cambridge tests taken by students in all grade levels during 2008 divided by the number of 2008 graduates. This year CHS earned an index of 2.795, their highest in six consecutive appearances on the list. Since first making the list in 2003, CHS has seen their index increase by 1.272 points.
113 Texas schools made the “Best List” with approximately 36, or 1/3, of those schools being in the DFW Metroplex. Other North Texas schools on the list include Allen HS at 882, Flower Mound HS at 885, Grapevine HS at 222, Hebron HS at 1,018, Highland Park HS at 23, Marcus HS at 1,052, Plano East HS at 653, Plano West HS at 247, Richardson HS at 455, and Southlake Carroll HS at 563.
