6 Campuses Make State Honor Roll
Coppell High School, CMS North, CMS West, Denton Creek Elem., Lakeside Elem., and Wilson Elem. made the Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) 2009 Honor Roll, the most campuses ever recognized in CISD. This prestigious group consists of 254 schools: 13 high schools, 35 middle schools and 206 elementary schools. Less than 4 percent of Texas public schools received this honor. Only five high schools in the state of Texas, that are not magnet schools, made the TBEC Honor Roll list. Also, CHS has the largest student enrollment of any school that made the list.
The coalition recognizes schools that have demonstrated 3 consecutive years of a high percentage of students meeting state standards on all TAKS tests. These schools also have the highest level of students performing at the commended level in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations. Honor Roll schools must maintain consistently high performance each of those 3 years.
The 2009 honor roll schools were also expected to have improved their commended performance from 2008 and to have a minimum of 20 percent of students performing at the commended level on all tests for 2009.
Representatives from all 6 CISD campuses, and the other honored schools, will be recognized at the state TBEC awards banquet in San Antonio in November.
