• 2008 Preliminary TAKS Results Strong

Preliminary TAKS results were released and Coppell ISD students fared well! One hundred percent of the “All Students” group Met Standard on the 3rd and 8th Grade Reading tests while 67% of the “All Students” group of 3rd Graders scored Commended on the same test and 83% of the 8th Grade student group scored Commended. Other district highlights include the “All Students” group scoring 99% on 5th Grade Reading, and Math, and 99% on 7th Grade Writing, 8th Grade Social Studies, and 11th Grade (Exit Level) Social Studies. Commended in those same areas were 62%, 70%, 67%, 62%, and 67%, respectively. Tenth Grade math was the only test in which students scored below the 90th percentile at 89%. However, their Commended results came in at the 50th percentile.

“Staffs across the district did an outstanding job implementing instructional strategies that met the needs of our diverse student population and students worked hard to again raise the bar of achievement. From all preliminary TAKS indications, we should have two Recognized campuses, Coppell High School and Coppell Middle School West, and twelve Exemplary campuses throughout the district,” said Dr. Jeff Turner, Superintendent of Coppell schools.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will announce preliminary accountability ratings in August which include not only TAKS performance but other indicators such as graduation rates. Meantime, visit the campus web sites for individual campus TAKS scores.
