“Mr. Bailey's presentation of the Pickens Plan is helping instill the environmental values and knowledge we feel is vital for our students in the 21st century. The Pickens Plan is making a difference in the future by giving of their time to educate this generation of children,” said Town Center Principal Penny Tramel.
The 5th graders were able to research alternative energy prior to the presentation, allowing them to interact with Mr. Bailey about the Pickens Plan.
“The students asked smart, articulate questions and I was very impressed with their knowledge of alternative energy,” said Mr. Bailey.
The Pickens Plan unveiled on July 8, 2008 by T. Boone Pickens as a way to end the U.S.'s growing dependence on foreign oil. The plan calls for investing in power generation from domestic renewable resources such as wind and using our abundant supplies of natural gas as a transportation fuel, replacing more than one-third of our imported oil.
