All Children Exercise Simultaneously in CISD!
Project ACES is an acronym for All Children Exercise Simultaneously. Project ACES was organized locally by the Coppell school distric''s Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and Physical Educators. Each campus will participate with over 10,600 students and some 1,000 CISD staff members all exercising at the same time! Guest speakers will give "pep" talks and local "celebrities," including the 2012 Coppell High School National Championship Girls Volleyball Team and the Coppell Fire Department, will be on hand to promote exercise and reinforce healthy living.
The National ACES Day is scheduled for May 2, 2012. However, due to testing conflicts, CISD will recognize ACES Day on Friday, May 4, 2012. Parents of CISD children are invited to attend the event and participate as well.
CISD's SHAC is hoping to continue the event annually and generate enough enthusiasm that the entire city will be exercising at the same time next year! They believe this event will encourage students to exercise every day as part of a healthy lifestyle and a great way to fight childhood obesity. Organizers believe it's the perfect event to support the city's healthy community living initiative "Living Well in Coppell"!
