CISD Schools Receive Top Ratings
The non-profit organization Children at Risk, in Houston, recently released its 2010 rankings of greater Dallas schools. The North Texas rankings include 170 high schools, 309 middle schools and 769 elementary schools in nine counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall and Tarrant. Five CISD schools placed in the top 25 of their respective categories. Coppell High School is ranked 11th out of area high schools and, CMS West, East, and North placed 11th, 14th, and 21st respectively. Cottonwood Creek Elementary was ranked 22nd in the elementary school category.
The data used for these rankings was obtained from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and is reported for the 2008-2009 school year. Children at Risk used up to 14 criteria for measuring schools, including TAKS data, graduation rates, average class size and attendance rates.
