CISD Students Support Kid Country Project
Summer heat and early hours didn't stop Coppell ISD students from their Kid Country community service efforts. Committee members helped write down the names of the original contributors to the "old" park on engraved pickets. These names (over 1,000 in all) will be used to create an acknowledgement wall in the new park to honor those donors. The students also picked up lots of trash in the park as they worked.
In addition, several committee members rode on the Kid Country float in the Spirit of Coppell parade on July 4th. They also helped to pass out thousands of information cards about the new park project to parade onlookers.
Just last week, several committee members and their families showed up at 4:45 a.m. to the WFAA studio at Victory Plaza to be part of their early morning Daybreak broadcast featuring Coppell. Students waved their Kid Country posters promoting this great community project.
Construction of the new park will be held October 2-7. Learn more about Kid Country at kidcountry2012.com or contact Laura Markham/Kid Country 2012 Children's Committee Coordinator for ways to help: 214.284.4126 or 972.283.6967.
