In November, Turning Point learners at VP@C began to create their own nature and science exhibits after a field trip to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The secondary students invited Denton Creek Elementary School third-graders to visit and learn more.
On Dec. 12, the third-graders arrived and were greeted by eight engaging and technology-rich exhibits. The third-graders interacted with Turning Point learners about things like wind energy, the different regions of Texas, sports medicine and body movement.
Each exhibit included technology, an interactive piece and a visual component. The critically endangered species exhibit even had a living portion – a bearded dragon that kids really liked meeting. Staff and learners from both schools enjoyed working together and learning from each other. This has become a great collaboration and learning experience for both schools.
