CISD Update March 24, 2020

Dear CISD Families,

Thank you for your understanding, patience and grace, as we launched our first day of CISD Distance Learning yesterday.  Although we experienced some technical issues, including Schoology having partial disruptions on their end, overall we feel like our launch of distance learning went very well. Thank you for your efforts as we all work through these new challenges that we are all facing. We are all in this #CISDTogether as we continue to focus on our Core Value of Great Teaching, as we work together in educating our children during this time.

We also want to remind you, if you are experiencing technology issues, that you should still submit a Helpdesk Ticket. This can be done with the CISD device or any personal device. You also can call 214-496-6972 and leave a voicemail, which will be routed to our Helpdesk system, and the information that is left on the voicemail will be inputted into a ticket and your Helpdesk request will be created.

In order to assist our learners with devices that are damaged and in need of repair, the CISD Technology Department will provide on-site support from the CISD Service Center beginning Friday, March 27.  This is in compliance with the Dallas County Shelter in Place order, because gathering to provide distance learning for our students is listed as an essential service.  Please see this Dallas County Shelter in Place Order in English and Spanish for more details.

Starting March 27, on-site support will be provided on Monday, Wednesday and Friday by appointment only and set up through the Helpdesk ticket system. Specific time and details will be communicated to those who need support through the Helpdesk ticket that you or your child has submitted. Remote support for all other technology related issues will be provided Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  We will continue to practice social distancing and ask our families with appointments to remain in their cars and one of our employees will come to you for assistance.

All technology issues need a Helpdesk Ticket to serve as a reference and communication point for all parties.

Finally, our CISD Board of Trustees meeting was held virtually yesterday at 5 p.m. You can watch the video online at The agenda is available at  Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt and team provided an overview of the district’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and updated the board members on topics including educational continuity and daily operating procedures that are occurring during this closure.

This meeting included several resolutions and policy changes in order for CISD to pay employees, hire employees and make purchases during the pandemic.  CISD Trustees approved a resolution to continue paying all regular district employees —  contractual and non contractual, salaried and non salaried — during this  emergency closing.  You can view a copy of the full resolution here. Trustees also approved additional resolutions that allow CISD to continue operating during this closure.  One resolution allows the Superintendent to approve purchases of equipment or services necessary for the continuing of distance learning or other essential school activities during this emergency closure.

As hiring season is underway, Trustees also approved giving Dr. Hunt the authority to hire applicants during this emergency closure, which is essential to maintaining our dedication to educational excellence in Coppell ISD. The Board usually grants Dr. Hunt this authority in the summer months to ensure CISD can hire qualified applicants quickly.  We want to continue in our preparation for the 2020-2021 school year as normally as possible during this time.

Please continue to check the CISD website for information on cancelled district and school events.  We also encourage you to visit and the public Facebook Group “CISD Closure Updates” for additional updates.

Thank you for your continued support during this situation,
