CISD Return to School Update July 16, 2020
Dear Coppell ISD Families,
Dallas County Health and Human Services today (July 16, 2020) at 6:00 p.m. issued a public health order stating that schools in Dallas County cannot re-open for on-campus, face-to-face instruction until Tuesday, September 8, 2020. This order also requires that all school sponsored events and activities, such as athletics, fine arts, clubs, fairs, etc. shall not take place in-person until schools are permitted to resume on-campus instruction. Administrators, teachers and staff may conduct or facilitate distance learning prior to Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
The CISD Return to School Task Force will meet to determine how this new order will impact the start of the school year, and what adjustments to the Draft Return to School Guide will need to be made in light of this public health order. The district will share any new information or decisions next week, after the Return to School Task Force has time to meet and plan accordingly. In light of today’s announcement, CISD is extending the deadline of its Commitment Form to August 6, 2020.
As a leader in public education, CISD has a strong tradition of providing an exceptional educational experience to our community, while also being innovative, adapting to change and focusing on our core values. Using authentic relationships and collective engagement as our foundation, we will chart new paths, so our educators can continue to conduct great teaching allowing our students to learn and grow in exceptional ways, as they redefine success in their academic and life journey.
In CISD, we truly value our students, teachers and staff, families and community. When we say, “You Matter,” this extends to all in our district community. We are listening to your feedback and suggestions. We also understand the frustration that these ever changing announcements and directives are causing us all, as we work together to plan for the upcoming school year.
In addition to our Return to School Task Force, CISD has a dedicated team of staff members who are working hard to ensure that we can all return to school safely, while continuing to provide the excellent education and great teaching for which our district is known. We remain committed to providing updates to our community throughout our back-to-school planning process.
We, again, thank you for your patience, grace, flexibility and understanding, as we work together to do what is best for our students, teachers and families. Please be on the lookout for another district update next week.
