CISD Internet Transitioning to New Provider, Outages Expected Sept. 18 to Sept. 20
Dear CISD Families,
As we are more than halfway through our first grading period, we want to thank our community for their patience, grace and understanding as our Coppell ISD Technology Department team has worked tirelessly to ensure access to district issued devices for all of our students and responded to thousands of help desk tickets. We appreciate our families and employees working with us to ensure that the educational experience of our students, whether in person or distance learning, has the technology and access to applications and programs necessary for success.
We want to make you aware that CISD will be transitioning to Region 10's Fiber X network for internet services on Friday, Sept. 18, starting at 5 p.m. This change allows the district to increase our internet bandwidth to better serve our students. This transition will cause an outage for internet services to all district campuses, as well as outages to external access for some CISD hosted applications, such as the Home Access Center, Zoom and other programs, while these changes are made.
The outage of external access to district hosted applications will vary due to the Domain Name System (DNS) changes replicating throughout the internet. The DNS updates should complete over the weekend with internet and applications restored by Monday, Sept. 21.
Schoology authentication may be affected by this internet transition. However, if you are already logged into Schoology, it should continue to work. Schoology will not be available from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., the morning of Saturday, Sept. 19, due to planned maintenance. All CISD educators are aware of this temporary internet outage and Schoology maintenance, and they will not penalize assignments that are not able to be turned in from after 5 p.m., Sept. 18, to midnight, Sept. 21.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this internet transition.
