Thanksgiving Message from the Superintendent

Dear CISD Family,

As we head into Thanksgiving Break next week, I want to share this video with you to express my thanks for our CISD family and for this special district that we all call home.

I feel it is important to pass along advice and guidance from our public health authorities about holiday gatherings during COVID-19. These are available on our website in English at go.coppellisd.com/HolidayGatheringsEnglish and in Spanish at go.coppellisd.com/HolidayGatheringsSpanish. We all must do our part to be safe during this holiday season. We also know that many of you and your children may have additional needs this holiday season or concerns about your child’s social, mental or emotional health. Your school counselors are here to serve and assist you, so please reach out to them about any concerns or needs you may have for your children or family. You also can email input@coppellisd.com for questions or directions on who to contact within the district for additional support.

As we continue to ask for feedback from our CISD family, I encourage you to complete the CISD Family Survey at go.coppellisd.com/familyfall2020. We have extended the deadline of the survey to early December, because we want to hear from as many of our families as possible. Questions in this survey are about instruction for in person and distance learning, how CISD is meeting your family’s needs, and more. This survey also serves as the community voice in our Community Based Accountability System or CBAS.

Finally, I want to make you aware of two important dates approaching the district. Our third nine weeks commitment form process will begin on Monday, November 30. Parents and guardians will receive an email from the district November 30. You only fill out the form if you are changing your current (second nine week grading period) learning mode. The deadline for this form is December 9 at 11:59 p.m. The third grading period begins on January 6, 2021. Please note CISD continues to remain committed to provide our families with the choice of in person and remote learning for their children.

CISD also has designated Friday, December 11, as an early dismissal day to allow our educators and staff to have additional planning time to meet the needs of our students. Elementary schools will release at 12:30 p.m., Middle Schools at 1 p.m. and High Schools at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, December 11.

Once again, I want to thank our teachers, employees, parents and guardians, and community for being such a special part of the CISD family. This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for each of you and hope you are grateful for us. As this year has shone us all, we truly are stronger, together.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Enjoy your break, rest, rejuvenate, and we will see you on Monday, November 30!

Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Hunt
