Holiday Message from the Superintendent

Dear CISD Family,

As we head into the Winter Break over the next two weeks, I want to wish our families Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Las Posadas, Happy Kwanza and a Happy New Year!  I know 2020 has been a challenging year, so I hope you enjoy this break and spend time with your immediate family.

I also feel it is important to pass along advice and guidance from our public health authorities, which was shared at our Facebook Live last night, about holiday gatherings during COVID-19. The safest way to celebrate the holidays this winter is with your immediate household members. If you gather with others, choose outdoor or well-ventilated spaces. Wear a mask, stay at least six feet apart and wash your hands often. For more tips, visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays/winter.html

There is no school and the district is closed from December 21 to January 4, 2021.  Our teachers and employees come back on January 5, 2021, and our students return to school — whether in person or remote — on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  CISD remains committed to providing our families with the choice of in person or remote learning for the remainder of the school year. As a reminder, CISD will not be updating its COVID-19 Dashboard or sending out case summary emails during the break.  These will resume on January 5, 2021.

I want to thank our students, employees, and parents and guardians for how hard you have worked this year, and share that I am grateful for you all.  We have come together with the challenges that COVID-19 has brought us.  I remain optimistic that a return to some semblance of normal is on the horizon.  While the new year will bring with it some new challenges, I am confident that our CISD family will get through whatever new challenges come our way, because we are stronger together.

Happy New Year to you and your family. Enjoy your break, rest and rejuvenate, and we will see you next year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Hunt
