Message from the Superintendent — Temporary Virtual Learning Ending October 7

September 20, 2021

Dear CISD Families,

I am writing to share that the CISD temporary virtual learning option for the first grading period will end on Thursday, October 7, as previously communicated in August. This means that the district will be entirely in-person for the second grading period starting on Tuesday, October 12. I firmly believe that in-person instruction is the best way for our district to address the unfinished learning and learning loss that has occurred during the pandemic.

It is essential for the district to bring all of our students back to be able to meet the wide variety of needs and support everyone to the best of our ability. As a learning organization, we have done a wonderful job trying to sustain learning during a pandemic.  While we have learned many ways to support our students virtually, our best instruction is the instruction that can happen day-to-day in the classroom, where we can model for learners, provide hands-on experiences, allow for collaboration activities and provide intense intervention and enrichment opportunities based on each specific learner's needs.
All of us at CISD are committed to ensuring an excellent educational experience for our students.  If the last year has taught us anything, it is that our children are resilient. I firmly believe a return to full in-person learning is the best decision for our entire district family — our students, our teachers, our staff and our parents and guardians.  Doing this will result in a better educational experience for all of our students.

We will continue to partner with our teachers, staff, families and community to educate our children to the highest standards, while doing everything we can to keep students safe.

I appreciate your support and your partnership with us in serving our kids.
