Richard J. Lee Elementary Selected as Apple Distinguished School

Richard J. Lee Elementary is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022–2025. Lee was recognized for its clear vision that articulates how its technology-rich environment supports the school’s goals for learning. The campus sets the conditions for and promotes continuous innovation to support its vision.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence. These schools use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration and critical thinking in learning, teaching and the school environment, and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

Lee Elementary Principal Chantel Kastrounis said, “Our staff is committed to learning new ways to enhance learning through the use of the Apple EcoSystem. Our learners are creators and collaborators.”

According to Kastrounis, the selection of Lee as an Apple Distinguished School highlights the school’s success as an innovator and a compelling learning environment that engages students, and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement.

“Through the use of workflows in Numbers, our learners can self-pace learning content specific objectives and show what they know through videos, pictures, and through the use of creative expression,” she said. “Learners are eager to engage and own learning through digital data portfolios and podcasts.”

The use of Apple technology and 1:1 devices for Lee learners gives students access to digital databases, online readers and apps that help educators design customized learning experiences for each specific student. Apple devices also provide tools to assist learners as they design, document and create solutions to challenge based learning experiences.

Lee Elementary is one of only 26 schools in Texas and one of six campuses in North Texas chosen as an Apple Distinguished school.  New Tech High @ Coppell also is an Apple Distinguished School. For more information on Apple Distinguished Schools, visit
