Board Approves Jobby Mathew for Place 7 Trustee Vacancy

November 7, 2022

Dear CISD Community,

After reviewing community feedback and 14 applications, Coppell ISD Trustees voted to approve Jobby Mathew to fill the vacant Place 7 Trustee position during our Special Board Meeting this morning (November 7, 2022.) Mr. Mathew will be sworn in as the Place 7 Trustee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 14, prior to the Board Meeting that begins at 6 p.m. He will hold the Place 7 Trustee position until the May 6, 2023 election.

As a reminder, the unexpired term for CISD Trustee Place 7 will be on the May 6, 2023, ballot to fill the remaining one-year of the term. Place 7 will then be up for election for its full three-year term during the May 4, 2024 election.

Mr. Mathew serves as Principal Corporate Counsel for the Microsoft Corporation. His CISD service includes being the President of the Coppell ISD Education Foundation, as well as being a former member of the CISD Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC), a current member of the CISD Community Based Accountability System (CBAS) Advisory Committee and the 2023 CISD Bond Committee. Mr. Mathew is also a graduate of the CISD iLead program. His additional community service history includes volunteering with the St. Ann Special Needs Ministry as a former Special Needs Sibling Support Group Leader, the Coppell Youth Soccer Association as a past Assistant Girls Soccer Coach and serving Cub Scout Pack #873 as Assistant Den Leader. He also currently volunteers with Communities in Schools of North Texas as the Boys Student Leadership Group Leader at Rockbrook Elementary. In addition to his past and current service to the community, Mr. Mathew will become the first CISD Trustee to live in Irving, where about 35 percent of CISD students currently reside. He and his wife, Santhi, who is an Assistant Principal at Lewisville ISD’s Rockbrook Elementary, have two children who attend Canyon Ranch Elementary.

On behalf of my fellow Trustees, we thank our community for providing feedback on the Trustee Place 7 vacant position, and we express our appreciation to those in our community who applied to fill Place 7.  We look forward to welcoming Mr. Mathew to our Trustee team.

Sincerely,

David Caviness
CISD Board President
