Emerging Alcohol + Drug Trends Video

Dear Coppell ISD Families,

As Coppell ISD’s health and wellness conversations continue, starting with suicide prevention in September and the Red Ribbon Campaign in October (during National Substance Abuse Prevention Month), we hope you have found opportunities to connect and engage with your child and talk about these important issues and their harmful effects. It is that dialogue between parent and child that opens the door to better understanding and hope. That dialogue - the open conversation - is of far greater value in helping our children make healthy life decisions than all the red ribbons, dress up days, and guest speakers in the world. We have to continue to take the judgement out of this topic and have the conversations with our children and each other that will help us put an end to these life-changing issues.

As parents, we need relevant and factual information that is useful and helpful to us as we address these topics with our children. Through CISD’s Parent University 2.0 efforts – the program is broadening its outreach to better accommodate the needs of our busy school community in support of our professional counseling teams.  We need to be able to provide our parents with these resources when they need it; therefore, we have updated our efforts to provide parents with resources on demand.

We hope you enjoy this new format and will watch the video linked below to learn more about not only the dangers of substance abuse, including vaping and how to talk with your child, but also available resources and where to turn for help. In Coppell ISD, we truly believe You Matter!
