New Tech’s Janelle Bence Receives State Teaching Award
New Tech High @ Coppell teacher Janelle Bence was among 12 teachers in Texas to be presented with the Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Awards. This award recognizes exemplary K–12 humanities teachers in Texas. Each year, teachers are selected to receive a $5,000 cash award and an additional $500 for their respective schools to purchase humanities-based instructional materials. From among the twelve winners, the top candidate will receive the James F. Veninga Outstanding Teaching of Humanities Award, an award established to honor James F. Veninga, Humanities Texas Executive Director Emeritus, for his twenty-three years of extraordinary contributions to the state council and to the public humanities in Texas and the U.S. We are honored Janelle is a part of the CISD family. She brings such an awareness to our community, and we are thankful for her passion for other people. She exemplifies our Core Value of Relationships because we whole-heartedly believe that when we invest in each other we learn and flourish.
