End of School Year Message from the Superintendent

A message from our Superintendent

Dear CISD Family,

As we close out the 2018-2019 school year, I want to thank our amazing students, staff and community for another wonderful school year. I also want to recognize the more than 900 students who have finished the Coppell ISD chapter of their story by earning their diploma from Coppell High School or New Tech High @ Coppell.

Whether they are extending their education, joining the military or entering the workforce, our graduates are leaving us ready to positively impact our world.  While we will continue to highlight our students who have achieved at the highest levels, we also want to share more stories that exemplify our Strategic Design Core Value of Redefining Success.

One of these stories is New Tech High @ Coppell graduate Abdul Shaikh. According to his teachers, success for Abdul is measured in his experience with building and growing his relationships, while expanding his knowledge of his true love of auto mechanics.  His passion for this pursuit included spending his free time working with a variety of vehicles and even fixing his peers' cars.  Because of his dedication and skill level in this area, Abdul has received the Northstar Builders Group Future Tradesperson Grant from the Coppell ISD Education Foundation to help fund his future education and career in diesel mechanics. There is no doubt that Abdul will be building and fixing the engines that will help move our community forward in the coming years.

It is stories like Abdul’s that we want to continue to share with our community, so we can live out the Redefining Success value statement of, “We value each individual’s contribution because success can be different for everyone.”

For those of you who have a child returning to our district in the fall, we are working hard over the summer to prepare for the 2019-2020 school year. We will be opening the new Canyon Ranch Elementary, as well as preparing classrooms, participating in trainings and setting the stage for our students’ success.

CISD starts its summer hours on June 3. Our district buildings and middle and high school campuses will be open Monday through Thursday through July 29.  Due to construction, CMS East will be closed June 17 to July 19, and our elementary school campuses also will be closed June 17 to July 19.  CMS East and the elementary schools will be open July 22 to July 26.  We will resume our normal operating business hours on July 29.

Over the summer, we will continue to share information with you about the upcoming school year through email messages, posts on our website and through social media. You can connect with us via Facebook and or Twitter. Also, please share your redefining success stories with us over the summer with the hashtag #CISDCoverStory.

I hope you take the opportunity this summer to spend quality time with your family, friends and loved ones. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, your child and CISD.

Have a great summer!
