Message from the Superintendent: Invitation to Oct. 4 Community Tailgate

Dear CISD Families,

I would like to invite you to attend Coppell ISD’s Third Annual Community Tailgate this Friday,  Oct. 4, from 5:30 p.m. to the game’s kickoff at 7 p.m.  This event also will serve as a Pop Up Birthday Party for our district’s 60th Anniversary.  Our community partners Andy’s Custard will provide a free treat to the first 500 guests, and Coppell Taekwondo Academy is sponsoring a selfie photo booth at the event.

The tailgate will be held in the parking lot of Buddy Echols Field at Coppell High School in front of the tennis courts. Dinner from Hard 8 BBQ will be available for $5, which includes either a turkey or beef sandwich, two sides and a drink. The only way to guarantee a meal is to purchase tickets in advance by the end of the day today (Sept. 30.)  To purchase a ticket, visit  Limited meal tickets also will be available for purchase at the Tailgate.

I also want to thank you for your cooperation in following our safety and security procedures for home  football games at Buddy Echols Field.  In anticipation of our next home football game, I want to take this opportunity to remind you of these procedures, which are available at, as well as share some tips to make attending Friday’s Tailgate and football game a smooth and fun experience for all.

First, I highly recommend that you purchase your game tickets in advance, as our longest line for the last home football game was for ticket sales.  You can purchase tickets online at (be sure to select Coppell Student or Coppell Adult Ticket), or at any of our middle schools or at the Coppell High School Field House by Friday at noon.  The ticket window at the Field House is open Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.  After noon on Friday, ticket prices increase and will be for sale only online or at the gate prior to the game.

I also advise you plan to arrive early for the game in light of the Community Tailgate and to allow time for parking and security checks as you enter the game. If you already have your tickets and are ready to enter the stadium, please check to ensure that you are in the admittance gate line and not in the line to buy tickets.  There are several admittance  and then security lines for those with tickets. We also ask that parents attend the game with their elementary or middle school children.  Please be aware, those using student-athlete free admittance cards/passes must use these by 7:30 p.m.

Finally, as part of our safety and security procedures, I want to remind you that:

  • All visitors at football games at Buddy Echols Stadium will be searched by portable metal detecting wands before entering the stadium at all entrances.
  • Backpacks are prohibited.  No exceptions.
  • Only small purses (4.5” x 6.5”), diaper bags, camera bags, and medical bags are allowed in the stadium.  All personal items are subject to search at the gate and if deemed allowable will be tagged with a color band.
  • All outside food, drinks, backpacks, coolers, ice chests, picnic baskets and glass containers are prohibited. (Concession stands are available.)
  • There is no “re-entry” once a person leaves the stadium.

I thank you in advance for your help in ensuring a fun and safe Community Tailgate and gameday experience Friday for all of our attendees and players.  Look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Go Cowboys!
