Dr. Axelson Named New Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Greg Axelson, current principal at CMS North, will serve as Coppell ISD’s new Chief Operations Officer (COO.) He will finish out this school year at CMS North and officially begins as COO June 1. Dr. Axelson will oversee Technology, Child Nutrition, Facilities and Maintenance, Transportation and other district operations. He replaces Associate Superintendent Sid Grant, who retired from the district in late February.
“I am so happy to welcome Dr. Axelson to this new role in CISD. He has been an incredible campus leader at CMS North and has had a strong impact at that campus,” CISD Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt said.
“His strong leadership skills, background in operations and excellent people skills will serve him well in his new role,” Dr. Hunt added. “I am excited to have him in this key leadership position and look forward to the impact he will have on our district.”
Dr. Axelson has been serving as the principal of CMS North since joining CISD in 2017. Previously he held administrative positions in Lewisville ISD, Cedar Hill ISD and began his career in education in DeSoto ISD.
“I am absolutely thrilled to continue to serve the Coppell ISD community and to partner with our school and district leaders to ensure all of our students, parents, teachers and staff have everything they need to thrive,” Dr. Axelson said.
Dr. Axelson received his Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University and received both his Master of Arts and Doctor of Education from the University of North Texas, where he also received his Superintendent Certification. His professional associations include the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Texas Association of School Business Officials. He and his wife, Melissa, live in Coppell ISD and have three children.
